[Overseas] WECA language school at Elim Elementary School in Sawannakh…

Overseas 2026. 10. 13 09:49

Supported by the World Educational Cultural Aid (WECA) Korean Classroom, Elim Elementary School, Sawannakhet, Laos We have brought you news of October, filled with children's clear singing voices and powerful enthusiasm for learning.

Currently, about 60 children from 3rd to 5th grade are attending Elim Elementary School. I am participating in a customized Korean class.

Although Hangul is unfamiliar and unfamiliar, children are discovering the joy of learning by not just staying at their desks but by bumping into it with their whole bodies.

Everywhere in the classroom, from 3rd graders bursting into laughter as they make vowel shapes with their whole bodies, to 4th graders learning numbers through finger games and strengthening their pronunciation, to 5th graders confidently reading and presenting Korean in front of their friends. It's full of vitality. The children began to speak loudly as they energetically imitated the movements to the nursery rhymes 'The Three Bears' and 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' and combined the words they had learned one by one.

More than anything, it was dazzling. Change is children’s ‘confidence’. Children who were initially too shy to raise their voices are now raising their hands with sparkling eyes in response to the teacher's questions, and faithfully completing their homework, showing their extraordinary sense of responsibility and passion for learning. The children's self-esteem grows by a single word of praise, "You did a great job!" that echoes throughout the classroom every day.

Looking at the wider world through a new language and creating a confident tomorrow We ask for your warm interest and strong support from our sponsors to the children of Sawannakhet, Laos, who have begun to dream.

"The experience of learning a new language and confidently expressing it with your own voice gives children the greatest courage to communicate with the world.

WECA will generously support children in underprivileged areas to discover their potential and grow into global talents through language and cultural education."

— Jeong-Hwan Bang, Chairman of the World Educational Cultural Aid
