[Overseas] The story of ‘Beondeut’, a scholarship student who wants to…

Overseas 2025. 12. 29 18:29

Beondeut, a WECA scholarship student living in Borei Keila, Cambodia, is the first person to smile and say hello every time we meet. Earndet's father works as a tuk-tuk driver and supports his family with an income of about $200 a month, and the family of five, including his mother and two younger brothers, lives together in one room that rents for $70 a month. Although the environment is by no means generous, I always live my day in a calm and bright manner.

Beondeut is currently ranked first in the entire school at Salabatuk School. My future dream is to be a doctor. This is a child who did not give up on studying even in difficult circumstances and did the best he could in his position. By faithfully participating in not only school classes but also Korean language classes at the WECA language school, I am creating opportunities for myself to connect with the wider world.

I am currently in the 12th grade, and I am at a time when future choices are important. In Borei Keila, many children head to work without being able to continue their studies, but Earndet is still holding on to his textbooks and preparing for tomorrow. It seems more desperate because they don't want to miss the opportunity, rather than because it's 'special'.

The reason why the child is able to go to school today is thanks to the continued interest of sponsors who believe in the child's potential and support him or her. We ask that you continue to join us on this journey so that one child can continue his or her dream.
