Syrian refugee children at the WECA Amman Tree of Life Center in Jordan are developing not only physical health but also mental strength through Taekwondo training.
The children learned how to straighten out their disturbed minds by repeating the most basic postures of standing at attention and taking control.
In particular, in Taegeuk Chapter 1 practice, where we learn the connection and flow of movements, all the children showed amazing concentration by matching each other's movements.
Through repeated kicking and Poomsae practice, children learn to control their own bodies and gain confidence to not give in even in the difficult environment of a refugee camp.
“I hope that the children will stand upright with their bodies at attention and shake off their inner fears through the Jiergi movement. The process of completing Taegeuk Chapter 1 will be the greatest song of achievement for the children, saying ‘I can do it.’”
-Bang Jeong-hwan, Chairman of the World Educational Cultural Aid
