14 students from Weschool Middle School in Kasanda District, Uganda shared great joy after completing the middle school national exam. Children in this area are faced with an environment where it is very difficult to continue their education due to pressure to marry early, pregnancy, and the burden of livelihood on their families. In the process, some students had no choice but to drop out of school due to pregnancy and family issues, but the 14 students who stayed until the end and continued to learn endured this time more fiercely than anyone else.
The children’s eyes sparkled as they said, “There were many days when I had to help my family with work without having time to do homework, but I am very happy that I was able to continue my studies.” The very fact that they were able to continue their education was a ‘miracle’ and ‘the moment when their dreams bloomed again’ for these children.
The students all expressed their gratitude to the sponsors in unison. “We couldn’t have come this far if it weren’t for the interest and love of our sponsors. Thank you for believing in us.” His words were truly sincere.
Chairman Bang Jeong-hwan said, “One child’s learning has the power to change a family and a village. Your support is protecting the children’s future.”
The World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to warmly work with Ugandan children so that they can follow their own path without losing their dreams.
