News about WECA Tondo Language School & free meals in the Philippines.

Currently, 35 children are developing their precious dreams at Language School. Children learn English and Tagalog, learn basic math, and receive education in art, etiquette, and hygiene. The children of Tondo village live on the little money they earn by segregating trash, so they do not even have enough money for food to satisfy their hunger, let alone for education. ‘Pakpak’ means food with dirt removed. It is said that people in Tondo village find food in the garbage when they are too hungry while working and cannot stand it. Their poverty is passed on to their children. The only way to break the cycle of poverty is to get an education and find a regular job, but because there is no money to get an education, poverty is repeated helplessly.
