Participating in the sharing walk ‘Let’s go together’

From October 21st to 23rd, at MBC Sangam Culture Plaza. The event was held. The World Educational Cultural Aid participated in operating and hosting a booth under the theme of ‘African Women-Human Rights’.

Many citizens attended the booth of the World Educational Cultural Aid, which ran for three days, and showed great interest in the campaign to send alternative sanitary pads and female genital mutilation. This is because I was saddened by the cruel reality of African girls that I had never known before. Student Kim Ji-min (female, 14 years old), who learned that sanitary pads were replaced with goat skin, rags, tree bark, dried grass, sand, chicken feathers, and lumps of mud because they did not have any decent underwear or sanitary pads, said, "I heard on the news that African female students who have not received hygiene education believe that menstruation is a disease. I am anxious that these children will be put in a difficult situation again because they have not received proper education. I want to be of some help." He said. In fact, African girls who are not properly educated are easily exposed to extreme child labor, adolescent pregnancy, sexual abuse, and absolute poverty.

A campaign to send alternative sanitary pads to these children was carried out, and in particular, public relations ambassador actor Yoo Seung-ok also conducted volunteer work to teach students how to make alternative sanitary pads. The donations made in this way are delivered to girls in South Sudan, Africa, who cannot go to school because they do not have sanitary pads.

In addition, we made a Taegeuk-patterned pinwheel that South Sudanese kindergarten children made and played with, and the booth was beautifully decorated with a message of hope for the children there. Taegeuk-patterned pinwheels along with red WECA balloons were very popular items at the sharing walk event.

In addition to the sharing walk event, various sharing experience programs such as the Africa Sharing Experience, VR Experience, Miracle Concert, and Sharing Bazaar were held to enjoy, empathize, and share together, creating an even more meaningful time.
