On the 23rd, students from Neungheodae Elementary School in Incheon (Principal Lee Myeong-su) participated in ‘making pencil bags of love’ to be given to children in poverty as part of the ‘Creating a Happy School’ volunteer activity with WECA (World Educational Cultural Aid), an international NGO under the Ministry of Education.

‘Making Pencil Pouches of Love’ is a campaign in which the international NGO WECA, the World Educational Cultural Aid, works with volunteers to make and send school supplies bundles to poor children in third world countries for their emotional growth. Individuals, schools, and corporate groups are participating.

Students at Neungheodae Elementary School decorated pencil pouches by attaching hotfixes according to the pattern and completed the pencil pouch by filling it with school supplies they wanted to donate. The pencil pouches prepared in this way will be delivered to impoverished children in underdeveloped countries through the World Educational Cultural Aid (WECA).

Kim Min-jun, a 4th grade student at Neungheodae Elementary School who participated in this ‘Making a Pencil Pouch of Love’ volunteer activity, said, “My neck hurt a little from attaching the hotfix, but I feel proud knowing that I can help my friends in poor countries.”

Meanwhile, since 2006, the World Educational Cultural Aid has been practicing sharing through exchange and cooperation for underprivileged children in 13 poor areas in 10 countries overseas, including educational support projects, cultural cooperation support projects, overseas volunteer dispatch, and academic research.
