World Educational Cultural Aid, news on education support in Indonesia and Myanmar
- Supporting library books in Yangon, Myanmar and sharing with graduation students from Batam, Indonesia
What comes to mind when you think of Indonesia? Bali, a beautiful travel destination? Jakarta with everything in place? But other than that, it is a large island country with many races, people, and appearances.
In particular, Batam, Indonesia, is a beautiful island that forms the Riau Islands along with places called Bintam, Lempang, and Galam Islands. There are more than 20 ethnic groups living here, including the Gayan people, Knya people, Penan people, Malay people from the Malay Peninsula, and Han people. Among them, the Iban people are the largest ethnic group, but they are also a unique indigenous people and maintain their own traditional culture.
The children are left in poor environments without anyone taking care of them. WECA, the World Educational Cultural Aid, selects scholarship students and provides support funds to children who need more attention and better education.
And recently, at the end of October, there was a big event where students who received scholarships had a graduation ceremony. Everyone showed their bright side through the photos, and I feel proud because it feels like I'm seeing a bright future. It was a truly precious and grateful time for the children to have a bright future thanks to donations from sponsors. In the future, WECA will continue to work hard to support all children so that they can receive quality education without discrimination and become independent.

We also heard good news from Myanmar, which is that books have been newly provided to a library run for children in Yangon, Myanmar.
To ensure that children no longer fall into this trap of poverty when they become adults, WECA, the World Educational Cultural Aid, has started “supporting books that can change a child’s life.”

Kim Jong-byeong, chairman of the World Educational Cultural Aid, said, “We plan to continue to provide books and scholarships, as well as carry out global education sharing projects, so that children suffering from hunger around the world can have a true learning opportunity for tomorrow beyond just one packed lunch to eat today.”
