On November 11, 2021, the World Educational Cultural Aid held a forum to improve understanding and improve awareness of multicultural children with Professor Jang Han-eop of Ewha Womans University.
Although Korean society is changing into a multicultural society, the level of multicultural awareness among Koreans is still insufficient. Accordingly, as an educational forum to raise awareness, we conducted intercultural education that emphasized critical reflection on one's own culture.
Professor Han-eop Jang of Ewha Womans University, who joined us, graduated from the Department of French Education at Seoul National University's College of Education and earned a master's degree in French education, a master's degree in social education, and a doctorate in French education from the University of Rouen, France. Returning to Korea at the end of 1993, he lectured at Korea National University of Education, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Sogang University, Sookmyung Women's University, and Ewha Womans University, and taught French conversation at EBS. In 1997, he was appointed as a professor of foreign languages at Ewha Womans University's College of Education, and in 1999, he moved to the same university's College of Humanities as a professor of French Language and Literature, where he has been teaching students ever since.
About 50 employees who listened to Professor Jang Han-up's forum lecture raised awareness of intercultural education on various topics such as conditions for discrimination, philosophy of intercultural education, and goals we should have.
“Differences are natural, so if you approach them with a positive approach, ‘differences are enriching.’” Professor Jang Han-eop
