[Overseas News] News of on-site deployment of emergency relief team in…

Domestic 2022. 03. 12 17:58

Emergency relief teams from the Jeremy region, an area hit by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake in Haiti, were deployed to the affected areas again today.

In a temporary tent camp in an area called Pestel, many children are starving and staying in tents in the rain due to the damage.

Although it is three hours away from downtown Jeremy, the aftermath of the strong earthquake also caused landslides here, killing many people and destroying houses. The total number of temporary residents is over 6,000, and they are living in several tent buildings. It is said that vehicles containing emergency relief supplies arriving here have been hijacked and taken away several times, making it difficult to receive support.

This is a school in a place called Beaumont, one of the areas in downtown Jeremy. The school was completely destroyed, and victims were setting up tents in the playground in front of the school, waiting for help. Other buildings with remaining roofs are also in a state of damage with no sign of collapse at any time, so they are surviving the pouring rain with only temporary tents.

This is an on-site interview with the emergency relief team.

It was devastating for the people and children we met at the earthquake site, where 2,200 people died, 77,000 houses were damaged, and 650,000 people lost their homes. The children waited anxiously for our relief team at the disaster site, where more and more people were affected by landslides due to the earthquake and continued rain. What was most heartbreaking was the school that completely collapsed without a trace. School will start soon, and I cried as I wondered where these children would study. -Emergency relief team interview-

Even today, emergency relief teams are crossing pouring rain and collapsed bridges to help children in many affected areas.
