[Online News] Pencils instead of hammers in children’s hands! World Da…

Overseas 2022. 03. 12 17:58

Some children stay up late playing smartphone games and wake up late, complaining that they don't want to go to school.

This child's life is like a dream to some children.

A child has only one wish: to go to school!

- The suffering caused by extreme poverty, dry land, disease, and disaster was not the child's choice. -

A child on the other side of the world spends his days breaking rocks with his bare hands and putting them into containers.

Another child is digging through a mountain of trash under a scorching sun that threatens to burn his hair.

They endure dust, noise, and bad smells to make a living by collecting items they can sell.

Sitting on dirt floors and piles of trash instead of classroom desks, picking up trash with hammers and bricks instead of pencils and notebooks.

For children in underdeveloped countries who have to work, going to school is like a dream.

No one taught these kids what to do in school. The only things adults teach these children are how to hammer and pick up trash.

It is common sense that children who are not yet 10 years old should be cared for and taught, rather than made to work to earn money. However, this obvious common sense is so vainly ignored all over the world.

June 12th, a terribly shameful day.

June 12th is the ‘World Day Against Child Labor’, established by the International Labor Organization (ILO) in 2002.

It is a terribly shameful day.

Let's not make young children work in factories. Don't let young children carry bricks at a construction site. It is such a shameful day that we have to set a ‘special’ day to say the very natural and universal story of not letting young children plow the fields on farms.

The place children should be is not in a factory, farm, or construction site.

Children should be in school and in the arms of adults.

We need your love and attention so that we can put pretty pencils, not sickles and hammers, in the hands of children who have become calloused and stiff from hard labor. WECA, the World Educational Cultural Aid, will be with you.
