[Overseas] News on medical support for children with cataracts in Keny…

Overseas 2024. 11. 28 13:05

In Kenya, Africa, there are many children who live with cataracts neglected due to lack of money for surgery. A cataract is a disease in which the lens of the eye becomes cloudy. It occurs naturally with age or due to complications of eye disease, nutritional deficiencies, or exposure to ultraviolet rays. In particular, Kenya, located on the African equator, has a high incidence of cataracts due to strong ultraviolet rays.

The cost of cataract surgery is 100,000 won per eye. Children in poor areas of Kenya cannot receive surgery because they do not have even 100,000 won. The source of income in poor areas is mostly farming or daily labor, which is so low that it is difficult to even eat three meals a day.

A child who loses his or her eyesight cannot go to school and lives a difficult life without any dreams or hopes. Education is the only hope for children in Kenya's poor communities. Only through education can you get a full-time job and escape poverty. So, in order to give hope to children, the World Educational Cultural Aid supported the cost of eye opening surgery for children with cataracts in Kenya.

Dear Sponsor, There are still many children who cannot study at school because they do not have even 100,000 won. Please give the light of hope to Kenyan children through warm sharing. The World Educational Cultural Aid plans to provide surgical expenses to Kenyan children who are desperately waiting for sponsors at a local cataract hospital.
