This is news from the 5th joint academic conference with Soongsil Institute for Peace and Unification.

On December 12, 2024, a joint academic conference was held at Soongsil University's Venture and Small Business Center under the theme of 'Adaptation and identity of North Korean defectors and young people with immigrant backgrounds.'

Starting with a welcoming speech by Oh Cheol-ho, director of the Soongsil Institute for Peace and Unification, we had in-depth discussions on the adaptation of North Korean youth defectors and the direction of support policies.

The conference was attended by Dr. Si-young Jang and Dr. David Jeong of the Soongsil Institute for Peace and Unification, who were in charge of presentations and discussions, Dr. Yu Ga of the Institute of Incheon Studies at the University of Incheon, Professor Seung-soo Ham of the Graduate School of Education at Myongji University, Dr. Yu-yeon Kim and Ji-hye Kim of the Korea Educational Development Institute, Byeong-gil Jeon, CEO of Yes Innovation, and Seong-mo Kim of the Job Support Department of the North and South Hana Foundation. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to those who joined us.

Through lively discussions, we discussed challenges and successes, and explored new ways to support young people. Various experts participated and shared practical policies and ideas.
