“I gained confidence while dancing.”

Marriage immigrants and their children are learning to dance to K-pop music. 

We conducted an interview with 7-year-old Shim Seo-yeon, who met friends through the ‘Dance On’ program and gained confidence through dancing, and Dinh Thi Phuc Hou from Vietnam, who said she was learning cooperation by dancing together. Q. Please briefly introduce yourself.

hello. My name is Dinh Thi Phuc Hou and I am 28 years old from Vietnam. I currently live in Korea with my husband and son.

Shim Seo-yeon)

hello. My name is Seoyeon Shim and I am 7 years old.

Q. Are you curious about why you participated in “Dance On”?

Dinh Thi Fook Hau)

I originally liked dancing. I usually dance lightly by myself, but I wanted to learn in earnest through this program, so I decided to participate.

Shim Seo-yeon)

We danced last time too. It was really fun. I love dancing with my friends and aunts. So I participated again.

Q. What changes have you experienced through dance?

Dinh Thi Fook Hau)

I danced alone and had never learned it in such a systematic way. In particular, the process of learning group choreography and putting it all together was a new experience.

Shim Seo-yeon)

At first, I was embarrassed to dance. But now I feel more confident. Now I enjoy being on stage. I also like meeting new friends.
