The World Cultural Center is conducting a Samulnori education program called ‘Tata’ for underprivileged children. ‘TATA’ aims to educate others on empathy through percussion instrument culture. We support traditional art education such as samulnori by utilizing spaces outside the school.
Arts education is expensive, which poses a major barrier to underprivileged children and youth. Therefore, we are lowering the threshold for cultural arts education and educating children who are out of the blind spots of education so that they can achieve creative and social growth.
We signed an MOU with 9 youth centers and local children’s centers in Gyeonggi-do, and have been providing ‘TATA’ training since April. Through this education, children learn Samulnori, enjoy the fun of Korean traditional music, Korean traditional music, and develop their artistic talents to the fullest. And the children are learning traditional percussion instruments and interacting with each other by creating music with their friends.
The children are preparing even harder these days for their performance because they have a performance presentation in November. As children prepare for the presentation, they are expressing their latent energy and talents. Please look forward to the children’s wonderful performance in November!
