The World Educational Cultural Aid (WECA), together with Myongji University, held a joint academic conference under the theme ‘Introduction of education vouchers for the sustainability of alternative education – To ensure parents’ right to choose education’ and supported event management and discussions.
Prior to the academic conference, on-site settings and SNS promotions were conducted, and at this event, various presentations and discussions continued to highlight the current status and limitations of alternative education and discuss sustainable operation plans through the education voucher system. In particular, the need for an education voucher system as a policy device to practically guarantee parents' right to choose education was emphasized, and in-depth discussions took place on equity, accessibility, and publicness that should be considered when introducing the system.
In the field, opinions were actively shared on the support and institutional support needed to establish alternative education as an important axis of the educational ecosystem that embraces various forms of learning, rather than simply as an ‘alternative option.’
Chairman Bang Jeong-hwan said, "Each child has a different way of learning. Discussions about education vouchers are an important starting point in expanding parents' choices and creating an educational environment tailored to each child."
As a bridge between the field and policy, the World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to conduct research and discussions to help children choose an education that suits their individual learning style.
