[Domestic] World Educational Cultural Aid’s Briquette of Love voluntee…

Domestic 2025. 12. 23 09:16

The World Educational Cultural Aid conducted the ‘Sharing Coal Briquettes of Love’ volunteer activity in the Daehyeon-dong area of Buk-gu, Daegu, and employees directly participated in the field and delivered 5,000 briquettes to underprivileged families. This activity was designed to help neighbors who have trouble heating in the winter to have a warm winter.

The Daegu region is known to be one of the few regions where the number of households using briquette heating is increasing, even as the number of households using briquettes is decreasing nationwide. That makes the need for this support all the more urgent, and after receiving prior safety training, the employees carefully moved the briquettes one by one through alleys and residential areas. Although carrying heavy briquettes was not easy, we encouraged each other and continued our volunteer service responsibly until the end.

Residents who received the briquettes expressed their gratitude, saying, “This winter has become much safer,” and at the site, beyond the simple delivery of goods, a warm moment of heart-to-heart connection between neighbors continued. This volunteer service, in which I personally participated, once again made me deeply realize the issue of energy poverty in the winter and the importance of sharing with the community.

Chairman Bang Jeong-hwan said, "The warmth of a single briquette protects a family's winter. The hands of our employees and the hearts of our sponsors come together to warm our neighbors' day."

The World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to provide support to vulnerable families so that they can live in a safer and warmer environment through field-centered sharing activities.
