At WECA Myanmar Yangon Women's With Home, children spent time planting cabbage and various vegetables in their front yard to celebrate the three-day holiday. In Myanmar, the 14th is a public holiday called ‘Men’s Day’, so it was a long-awaited opportunity for children to rest and be active.
The children were happy as they prepared the soil and planted the seeds, saying, “It’s amazing that we can eat what we grow later!” The experience of growing and harvesting your own food will be more than just an activity, it will be a valuable time that gives you a sense of responsibility and accomplishment.
On the weekend, we each spent leisurely time drawing pictures. The children enjoyed quiet healing time by expressing their own stories through colored pencils and paints.
Chairman Bang Jeong-hwan said, “Children develop their strength in life through the experience of cultivating and expressing themselves. The love of our sponsors is creating a warm change in the children’s daily lives.”
The World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to work with Myanmar With Home children so that they can develop their dreams in a safe and warm environment.
