The Bandun Tam School Ensemble, which operates with the support of WECA in the Bandun Tam region of Thailand, prepared a welcome performance of approximately 15 minutes to welcome the traveling team. The sight of children standing on stage playing musical instruments in a rural village with little opportunity for cultural education was, in itself, a great moving experience.
The Bandun Tam region has had an environment where it has been difficult to access cultural education such as music, but through ensemble activities, children began to harbor new dreams. Now, the ensemble has gone beyond the school and become the pride of the region and ‘celebrities,’ and the children’s performances are a source of great support and hope for the village people.
The school expressed its deep gratitude, saying, “The ensemble has great meaning to Bandun Tam School.” In fact, before the operation of the ensemble, there were only about 70 students, but as news of support from Korean NGOs and the activities of the ensemble became known, the number of students has nearly doubled to about 140. Music is bringing kids back to school.
Chairman Bang Jeong-hwan said, "Cultural education has the power to change children's lives. Seeing children who gain confidence through musical instruments become the hope of the village, I feel the meaning of education again."
The World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to provide a stage of learning and dreams to children in areas where cultural education is lacking, and will work together to help children unfold their potential to the fullest.
