[Overseas] News from WECA Dilla Burhan High School in Ethiopia

Overseas 2026. 03. 13 17:36

The WECA education program is underway at Dilla Burhan High School in Ethiopia. A total of 47 students, including 16 10th graders, 16 11th graders, and 15 12th graders, are participating and developing their academic capabilities by learning various subjects such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, English, and Korean.

Classes are conducted according to the curriculum for each grade, and students expand their understanding of basic academics through each subject. In particular, 12th grade students gained important academic experience recently by taking their first mock exam in preparation for college entrance exams. This is the first test conducted by the Ethiopian government to help students prepare for college entrance exams, and the school put a lot of preparation and effort into helping students achieve good results.

As a result of the mock test, all WECA students scored over 300 points, which is the passing line for the college entrance exam. The highest score was 378 by a Tamrat student, with most students scoring between 302 and 340. Although there are still areas where we need to work towards higher goals, it was a meaningful result in that all students reached the passing line. Students are focusing more on their studies to achieve better grades during the remaining semester.

Chairman Bang Jeong-hwan said, "Education is the most certain force that can change the future of children. I hope that students will open up greater possibilities through their current efforts, and I encourage them to continue challenging themselves until the end toward their dream of going to college."

The World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to provide educational support so that students can fully realize their potential in a stable educational environment and advance toward a broader future.
