We provided 3 tons of coal for winter heating to vulnerable neighbors in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Winters in Mongolia are so harsh that temperatures drop below -40 degrees Celsius, so heating is a necessity for survival. However, many families have to endure the long winter without sufficient heating due to economic difficulties.
This support is designed to help children and families spend the winter in a safe and warm environment despite the harsh cold. The delivered coal was used in each home's stove, providing valuable warmth to protect against frozen winter nights. Residents expressed their gratitude, saying, “Coal is what we need most to get through the winter, so it was a great help.”
A warm space protected from the cold also becomes an environment where children can continue their daily lives and continue learning. This is because in a house where heating is difficult, children have difficulty concentrating on their studies and their daily life itself can easily become intimidating. Although it is a small amount of fuel, it becomes an important foundation for protecting children's lives and learning.
Chairman Bang Jeong-hwan said, "A warm environment is the most basic condition for children to learn and grow. I believe that heating support goes beyond simple livelihood support, but protects children's daily lives and learning."
The World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to look after our neighbors living in harsh environments and continue to provide the necessary support so that children can learn and grow in a safe environment.
