Ahead of the semester, we delivered school supplies and study materials to 150 children at three local children's centers. Children who had been hesitant to take notes due to a lack of school supplies received new notebooks, writing utensils, and worksheets and expressed their joy, saying, “Now I can study to my heart’s content.” As I watched the children smiling brightly as they organized school supplies with their names written on them, I could feel how much of a long-awaited gift this support was.
The children expressed their gratitude by saying “Thank you” repeatedly, and the teachers also expressed their joy at seeing the children focusing on their studies with brighter expressions. Although it is a small item, it provides children with a strong starting point to start the new semester with joy and confidence.
Jeong-Hwan Bang, Chairman of the World Educational Cultural Aid, said, “I think the moment when children feel happy and grateful is the greatest meaning of educational support. I hope that these school supplies will be passed on to children with the feeling that they are not alone.”
The World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to provide essential support close to children's daily lives so that children at local children's centers do not hesitate to learn because of their environment.
