At WECA Language School in the Tondo area of Manila, Philippines, 40 children are consistently participating in classes divided into morning and afternoon classes. Even in the harsh environment where urban waste collects, children do not give up on learning and go to class.
Children develop reading and speaking skills through English and Tagalog classes, and have time to organize their thoughts and express their feelings through math and art classes. Even in an environment surrounded by old alleys and trash piles, laughter and concentration continue in the classroom, and the time spent learning opens up new possibilities for children.
Chairman Bang Jeong-hwan said, “The environment should not determine the future of children. Hope can grow wherever there is learning.”
The World Educational Cultural Aid will continue to deliver the strongest hope called education to the children of Tondo so that they can develop their dreams beyond their circumstances.
