[Beyond Post Reporter Kim Min-hyuk] On Thursday, May 12, as part of social contribution activities, KB Kookmin Card CEO Lee Chang-kwon visited Koh Reah Leu Elementary and Middle School located in Kandal Province, Cambodia with employees of KB Daehan Specialized Bank, an overseas corporation, and delivered donations to improve sports facilities and provide books.

The donations delivered on this day will be used to install drainage systems for the school's soccer and volleyball courts and purchase sports equipment such as sportswear, soccer balls, and volleyballs. An event was also held where snacks such as bread and drinks were delivered to students along with the donations.

CEO Lee Chang-kwon, who attended the event, said, “I hope that children will grow up in a better environment where they can read books, run around and play to their heart’s content,” and added, “KB Daehan Special Bank will also continue to work with Cambodia’s future children so that they can grow up brightly and healthily.”

Bang Jeong-hwan, Chairman of the World Educational Cultural Aid, who also attended, said, “I am pleased to be able to participate in such meaningful KB Kookmin Card social contribution activities, and all executives and employees will work hard to provide better educational support for Cambodia’s ‘Koh Lea Lu’ school in the future.”

The local KB Korea Special Bank has continued to carry out social contribution activities to create a library at Ko Lea Lu Elementary and Middle School, which was visited on this day. Last January, employees created a library environment by drawing pictures in the warehouse and donated about 1,000 books to support the opening of the library.

In addition, through creative local-specific social contribution activities such as producing goods using waste tires and donating sales proceeds, creating streets with solar-powered street lights in underdeveloped areas, and installing reflectors in alleyways, the company is creating an exemplary case of growing together with the local community, such as being selected as one of the ‘Excellent CSR cases of Korean companies entering ASEAN’ published by KOTRA.

KB Kookmin Card has also been carrying out continuous global ESG management activities in Southeast Asian countries, including Cambodia, for several years, including financial education pop-up books and donating safety umbrellas for children.

The World Educational Cultural Aid is an international relief non-profit organization that develops sponsorship programs for children in educational blind spots around the world, practices sharing so that those in need can live with hope, and takes the lead in spreading the donation culture.
