On January 15, the World Educational Cultural Aid provided 700 pieces of sunscreen and 500 pieces of UV-blocking glasses to the Tanzania Albino Association (TAS).
Albino is a congenital disease that causes the skin, eyes, and hair to become white and very sensitive to light due to a lack of melanin pigment in the body. In particular, albinism in Tanzania occurs at a high rate of 1 in 1,400 people, and the average life expectancy is said to be very low, around 30 years.
This donation of UV protection supplies to Tanzania was carried out for albino children who live in difficult situations at risk of skin cancer and burns due to exposure to sunlight. You can prevent various diseases with just a generous amount of sunscreen and UV-blocking glasses, but albino children living in poor areas of Tanzania do not go to school and hide in their rooms because they cannot afford sun-blocking items due to difficult circumstances.
Bang Jeong-hwan, president of the World Educational Cultural Aid, expressed his thoughts on this support project, saying, “Albino children should also be given equal opportunities to receive education through UV-blocking products. Education is the most effective way to solve their chronic problems.”
The World Educational Cultural Aid is an international educational non-profit organization that develops educational and cultural programs for children in educational blind spots around the world, practices sharing so that those in need can live with hope, and is at the forefront of spreading a donation culture.
