Tanzania World Albino Day event
[Beyond Post Reporter Kim Shin] On June 13, the World Educational Cultural Aid participated in the World Albino Day event in Tanzania and provided sunscreen products to albino patients.
The World Educational Cultural Aid continues to carry out various support projects in cooperation with the ‘Tanzanian Albino Association (TAS)’ for Tanzania’s albino patients, who develop the disease at a high rate of 1,400 to 1.
Every year, June 13th is World Albino Day, and in Tanzania, an event is held to support treatment and various blocking items for albino patients and to carry out various activities to improve awareness of albinos.
Providing UV protection items
The World Educational Cultural Aid participated in this event and provided UV-blocking glasses, hats, sunscreen, and medicine for albino patients. Albino is a disease caused by a congenital lack of melanin, which makes the skin and eyes very susceptible to exposure to sunlight. Moreover, due to blind belief in incorrect superstitions, albino hunting is rampant, cutting off parts of the albino patient, making it impossible for them to live a normal life like others.
Bang Jeong-hwan, Chairman of the World Educational Cultural Aid, expressed his future ambitions, saying, “Albino patients born with congenital difficulties cannot survive without help from others.” He added, “We will carry out various support projects to improve awareness and safe growth of albinos.”
