Chungju Gukwon High School, educational volunteer work in Yangon, Myanmar

[Chungcheong Daily Reporter Choi Jae-hoon] The overseas volunteer work conducted by Gukwon High School in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province to provide students with diverse experiences resonates greatly by providing opportunities for students to develop their dreams through greater learning.
Kookwon High School announced on the 27th that it went on an overseas educational volunteer trip to a poor area in Yangon, Myanmar from the 13th to the 18th (photo).
Gukwon High School has been recruiting volunteer groups since June of last year, dividing them into three groups, and planning educational volunteer activities on their own.
We conducted local educational volunteer work by dividing the participants into a cultural exchange team that taught Tuho, a traditional Korean game, a face painting activity team, and a team that made Jangmyeongnu bracelets, a traditional Korean accessory, to pray for a healthy and long life.
They also cheered on local students by distributing gift packages containing school supplies.
Dasom Yoo (2nd year), a student who participated in the volunteer work, said, “The overseas volunteer service in Myanmar, which I signed up for to gain experience, changed the image of volunteering I had thought of until now. Rather, I learned more and gained great happiness, but as time passed, it was a volunteer service that left me with a lot of regret and longing.”
Teacher Kang Seong-jin said, “I became a volunteer who gained something through volunteer work,” and added, “Seeing the sincerity of the students and the untainted innocence of Myanmar students gave me a warm heart.”
Kukwon High School went on overseas volunteer work to Cambodia last year and this year, starting with Cambodia in 2018, and 45 students participated so far this year.
